We are delighted to share the news that our Chief Science and Technology Officer, Fiona Rayment OBE, has been recognised internationally through being awarded the rank of Chevalier of the prestigious Légion d’Honneur by the French Government.
The award – known in English as the Legion of Honour – is the highest French order of merit for military and civil merits. It was established in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte and has been retained by all French governments since that time. The citation for this award recognises Fiona’s contribution to strengthening the Franco-British nuclear partnership, and makes special reference to the fields of education and research, both of which are central to the future of the common endeavours of the two nations.
Fiona has had strong international links with a number of countries, including France, over many years, and recently took over as chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Energy Division at CEA – the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission.
Fiona will collect the award in person – COVID permitting – at a ceremony at the French Embassy in London next year.
