Our science and technology agenda: unleashing innovation and meeting the UK’s climate change targets

Following the recent launch of NNL’s Strategic Plan, we are pleased to share our new Science and Technology Agenda publication, which sets out our aims and ambitions for the coming years.

Investing in scientific research and unleashing innovation is fundamental to our work as a national laboratory; allowing us to serve our customers, our partners and our nation better. Science and technology is, and always has been, the beating heart of NNL and is central to enabling our purpose of nuclear science to benefit society.

The S&T Agenda is defined by three key pillars – Core Science, Innovation and Strategic Research – all of which are underpinned by Collaboration; creating a balanced portfolio that ensures we are addressing current as well as future needs. Through it, we will be developing thought leadership, delivering successful partnerships, nurturing nuclear skills and talent, and enabling the delivery of and innovation within our existing customer programmes.

This publication is a result of collective efforts from across our science and technology community, as well as our partners across the nuclear sector. It showcases the exciting steps we are taking now and will continue to take, to help reposition the UK as a global leader in nuclear research and technology and firmly establish its place as a science superpower.

We hope you enjoy reading the publication and share in our excitement about its potential to deliver for our customers and partners, in the UK and globally.
