Funding for Decommissioning Technologies

Funding Innovative Technologies to Accelerate Sellafield Decommissioning

The innovative technology scheme Innovus (managed by NNL and The University of Manchester) has partnered with Sellafield Ltd to enable businesses to develop technologies to accelerate the decommissioning mission at Sellafield.

Businesses can apply for a share of £397,500 funding to develop technologies which will enable the clean-up of Sellafield to be quicker, cheaper and safer.

This seed-corn development funding, managed by the Innovus scheme, is a key strategy of Sellafield Ltd to enable the development of innovative technologies tosupport the decommissioning mission.

The investment made by Sellafield Ltd. in the Innovus scheme was as a result of the rapid increase in applications to Innovus following the ‘It’s Nuclear Decommissioning Opportunities’ event in March, where businesses learnt how innovation and technology can provide a competitive advantage, leading to winning work in the multi-billion pound nuclear decommissioning industry.
