Industrial Placements 2013

Industrial Placements 2013

The UK’s National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) and its predecessors have been carrying out research and development in the nuclear industry for over half a century.

NNL supports nuclear operators both in the UK and internationally. Our work is predominantly plant support operations for facilities on the Sellafield site and for ongoing reactor operations. In addition, we are increasingly involved with international nuclear commercial operators and other overseas national nuclear laboratories. Our work is diverse and calls on a number of different skills and disciplines.

We’re looking for students who are undertaking graduate or postgraduate studies who are looking for industrial experience within the context of nuclear technology services.

Candidates we seek have excellent communications skills, masses of drive and energy, self motivation and a willingness to learn and develop. The successful candidates will embrace technical challenge, be practical, innovative, customer driven and seek to add value.

Typical disciplines sought are chemistry, material science, nuclear physics, chemical engineering and mechanical engineering.

Placements can usually be tailored to meet the requirements of your degree course.

Placements will typically start Summer 2013, usually for a minimum of 10 weeks duration, placement duration is negotiable

We can also offer longer term placements such as 12 month industrial placements to suit the requirements of a sandwich style degree course.

Placements will pay £13k per annum pro rata and could be based at any of the NNL’s UK locations. We will offer assistance of up to £65 per week towards accommodation should you need to live away from home.

In addition to enabling students to practically apply their academic work in an industrial environment, these placements play a key role in the NNL’s resourcing strategy. Successful applicants will be strong candidates for joining the NNL’s graduate programme at the end of their studies.

Please apply with a CV and covering letter to recruitment@nnl.co.uk stating where you saw the placement advertised, the type of work you are looking for and NNL locations you would be willing to work at.

Closing date 14th December 2012.
