Thanks to £1m funding every year, we run our very own Research and Development Programme. And it's all part of our continued investment in developing products and services that benefit the wider nuclear industry.

Helping to shape nuclear energy in the UK and internationally, the programme has been running for a number of years and has been a huge success.

In a short space of time, we've already collaborated with more than 20 research organisations. The programme has also seen a leverage of investment of over five times. Better still, NNL has been directly involved in 11 sponsored PhDs, with more than 25 research scientists playing their part.

On top of all this, we've published three position papers and had close to 300 ideas submitted with around 10% technically developed. The R&D Programme has also been awarded six patent families across the UK, US and EU.

A culture of innovation has brought valuable commercial relationships including a joint venture into decontamination technologies. While the programme has also brought new products, such as the RadBall, to market.
