The National Nuclear Laboratory provides customers with a thorough evaluation of the near-field environment. Our comprehensive services include modelling of the long term behaviour of waste post repository closure as well as thermal analysis of any building or other storage area and, if required, design of an appropriate passive cooling system.
Experimental and modelling
Our combination of experimental and modelling studies allows us to determine the long-term behaviour of radioactive and non-radioactive wasteforms post repository closure. In combination with our specially developed intrusive and non-intrusive investigation strategies for waste, we can assist in repository management.
Codes and Tools
Our team of experts have developed and implemented models to represent gas generation from nuclear waste, allowing our customers to develop effective storage strategies. To support these services we use a combination of industry standard codes and a range of codes and tools developed in-house.
