NNL has the skills and expertise to carry out investigations into coastal evolution and climate change as well evaluation of receptor behaviour and exposure. Our team of experts can produce a model of biosphere processes specifically tailored to reflect the impact your disposal operations have on the biosphere. If required we can also provide human and ecological dose/risk estimates.
Analytical techniques
From soil samples to seismic refraction, the National Nuclear Laboratory utilises a variety of intrusive and non-intrusive analytical techniques to design and implement site investigations. Combined with geological characterisation, this enables us to support you in radiological waste disposal, including the assessment of options for the disposal of nuclear waste.
Safety Case underpinning
Our expertise allows us to produce a variety of models, incorporating geochemistry, hydrogeology and contaminant transport. We also have the capacity to undertake experimental and modelling studies of radionuclide mobility. All of this information can be combined to produce a conceptual model and assessment of geosphere pathways and biosphere receptors to underpin repository safety cases.
