Non Active Laboratories

The main non-radioactive laboratory is straightforward to access, with no radiological protection measures necessary.

Open plan, the laboratory is equipped with benches and fume cupboards to accommodate chemicals, materials, analytical and instrumentation studies. These units are modular allowing a fully flexible approach.

This experiment, running in the non-radioactive laboratories, supports the Vitrification Test Rig

The laboratory provides optical microscope and scanning electron microscope facilities. and features a workshop for sample preparation and a furnace laboratory to support high temperature process studies.

The ability to carry out inactive experiments before moving into a radioactive environment is an essential step in ensuring safe and efficient operations.
